Opticomb™ FAQs

Is the Opticomb™ suitable for everyone?

Most adults and children over the age of three can use the Opticomb™. (Warning: Small parts may be a choking hazard for young children.)

Can I use the Opticomb™ on more than one child?

Yes, but make sure the unit is cleaned thoroughly after each use.

Where can I purchase the Opticomb?

The Opticomb is available through most pharmacies and Priceline stores.

Can I use the Opticomb™ on wet hair?

Yes, but the Opticomb™ will operate more effectively on dry hair.

Do I have to pull the Opticomb™ through to the ends of the hair?

Although head lice live close to the scalp, the effectiveness of the Opticomb™ is maximized if used through to the hair ends.

How is the Opticomb™ Capture Strip used?

Lift the Capture Strip Cover, remove liner from Capture Strip, insert and close cover. To remove used Capture Strip, simply reverse the steps.

What should I do if my Opticomb™ won’t turn on?

Check to see if your battery has been inserted correctly or needs replacing or unit requires servicing.

What should I do if my Opticomb™ sweeper does not operate when switched on?

Check to see if battery may need replacing. Alternatively, the comb’s mechanism may be clogged with hair/debris and require cleaning. To remedy this follow the cleaning instructions outlined in this manual. If it still does not operate after cleaning, unit may require servicing.

Can I use any battery?

The Opticomb™ requires 3x AAA 1.5V alkaline batteries. We do not recommend using rechargeable batteries as most rechargeable batteries do not hold enough charge to power the Opticomb.

Can I get replacement Opticomb™ Capture Strips if they run out?

You can purchase the Opticomb™ Capture Strips through most pharmacies and selected retail outlets. Alternatively, you can contact us for more information on how you can purchase replacement Capture Strips.
